AWA is an independent national association of individuals and organisations interested in all aspects of water. Its mission is to promote responsible management and conservation of water and the related environment. Membership is multidisciplinary and drawn from all sectors of the water industry. Funding is derived from subscriptions and other conventions.
As the leading water industry association in Australia, AWA attempts
to inform the debate and improve the performance of all players.
Since its formation in 1962, AWA has grown to a total membership
of more than 4000, including around 500 organisations.>
AWA aims
to:
- meet and serve the changing needs of its membership
- promote the interchange of ideas and knowledge among people involved
in water management
- increase the knowledge and skills of people working in the water
industry through facilitating education and training
- be relevant to the needs and demands of the water industry in Australasia
- improve community understanding of water and its contribution
to economic development, quality of life and the environment
- improve the standard of informed debate on water issues to foster open decision making
- respond to community values and aspirations in relation to water
management and conservation
- serve as the main Australian link in the international water industry network.
