About the WIOA Queensland Workshop
History
The Qld Water Industry Training Association (WITA) was responsible for the organisation of the Qld Workshop for the majority of its history. From 2006, the organising of the Workshop was offered to the WIOA with strong support from the Industry.
Workshop Goals
- Distribution of the latest technical, research and operationally based information through platform and poster presentations.
- Update of technology and staff skills through interaction with fellow Water Industry employees.
- Provide the opportunity to view and discuss the latest advances in technical equipment and services with suppliers and trade consultants.
Workshop Papers
Preference is given to papers which provide information on the latest advances in water technology or that provide practical solutions to operational issues. There is usually a mixture of papers sourced from hands-on "operators", trade based representatives and industry technical experts.
To encourage the participation of Industry Operators, 'Actizyme' provides a substantial award for the 'Best Paper Presented by a WIOA Member'.
As an additional incentive to operators, WIOA also provides an award for the "Best Poster Paper by an Operator".
The Queensland Branch of AWA will annually present 'The Qld Operator of the Year' award at the Workshop commencing in 2006. This award is judged by the AWA following nominations direct from Councils, Water Authorities and/or private industry companies employing operators.
Trade Involvement
Trade companies supplying goods or services to the water industry are extremely supportive of the conference and use it as a vehicle to demonstrate the latest advances in technology to delegates.
This support is paramount in allowing our Association to present a high standard Workshop at a reasonable cost to all Industry participants
