Orange CC39th Annual Queensland
Water Industry Operations Conference and Exhibition

Over 800 individuals attended the 39th Annual NSW Water Industry Operations Conference and Exhibition held by the Water Industry Operators Association’s (WIOA).

This important water industry event was held on 4 & 5 June 2014 at the Logan Metro Sports Centre. Delegates were officially welcome by the Mayor of Logan City Council, Councillor Pam Parker, and the conference keynote addresses were delivered by Ms Catherine Huf from Wannon Water and Mr David Cameron from the Queensland Water Directorate.

The event concluded with the official awards ceremony, which saw Julie Smith from Isaac Regional Council win the prestigious Leon Henry memorial industry award that is sponsored by the AWA Queensland Branch, the 2014 Queensland Operator of the Year.

A comprehensive exhibition with over 100 exhibition sites saw companies exhibit the latest in equipment, services and process technologies available to the water, wastewater and liquid conveyancing industries. The winner of the Ron Bergmeier Award for best exhibition site was Austeck.

A highlight of the event was the awarding of the Orica Water of Origin Taste Test where the Queensland sample from the Bundaberg Regional Council was a clear winner over NSW that was represented by the Bega Valley Shire Council. The taste test was conducted over the 2 days of the conference, where delegates were able to cast a vote for the sample that they though tasted the best.
