Julie Smith announced 2014 QLD Operator of the Year Award
Julie from the Isacc Rregional Council won the prestigious Leon Henry Memorial Queenland Operator of the Year Award at the WIOA Queensland Awards night held last week. The award was accepted in Julies absence by Dwayne Lazar.

Queensland wins Orica Water of Origin Taste Test
Queenslanders can revel in the knowledge that they have some of the best tasting water in the country. Bundaberg Regional Council has laid claim to the “top drop” title when attendees at the WIOA Conference in Logan gave its sample the nod in the 2014 Orica Australia Water of Origin Water Taste Test, beating the NSW entrant from the Bega Valley Shire Council.

Bega Valley SC has won bragging rights as having the Best Tasting Water in NSW after it won the award at the WIOA conference held in Orange. Other finalists included Orange CC, Nambucca SC and Wingacarribee SC.
Update on the Status of the National Certification Framework
WIOA has been invited onto the Water Industry Skills Taskforce (WIST) and we are represented by EO George Wall. At the June meeting, responsibility for progressing the National Certification Framework was handed over to the WIST by the National Water Commission.
