The Water Industry Operators Association of Australia (WIOA) is a national non-for-profit association with a primary role of facilitating the collection, development and exchange of quality information between people undertaking operational roles in the water, wastewater and recycled water industries.
South Australian Operations Day & Water Taste Test
The SA Advisory Committee invites members and guests to join other water industry operators to attend an Operations Interest Day and the running of the second Ixom South Australian Water Taste Test. NSW Water Interest Day to be held at Tea Gardens WTP
MidCoast Water is hosting a water interest day at the Tea Gardens WTP to be held on Wednesday 27 July 2016. A great program has been developed that includes an open forum on SOP's and presentations from MidCoast Water, NSW Health and the days sponsor PALL Corporation.

Victorian Network Operators Development Program Launched
This exciting new program has been established to identify, mentor and develop future leaders in the Network Operations field across the Victorian Water Industry. Applications are being eccepted for the first group to undertake this program in 2017.

Victorian Conference Program Announced

Individual WIOA members are encouraged to apply of the 2016 Kwatye Award sponsored by Thermo Fisher Scientific. Nominations close on 20 July and individuals (or teams) are asked to nominate to undertake a professional development activity, project or opportunity. Up to $6,000 is available for the winner to use on expenses to undertake the professional development activity.
Queensland Three-peat in Water of Origin
WIOA conducted another successful conference and exhibition in Rockhampton that saw:
- Barcaldine RC defeat Nambucca SC in the Ixom Water of Origin
- Vern Atkinson Cairns Regional Council win 2016 Operator of the Year
- Gary Fenwick QUU win Best Paper by an Operator and Best Paper Overall

Darren Lord from TasWater wins 2016 PASS Award
Congratulations to Darren Lord on winning the 2016 PASS (Problem Accepted Solution Supplied) Award. Darrens innovation that has reduced the OHS issues associated with transferring Sodium Hypochlorite from containers and drums saw him join other WIOA members on the WIOA tour to New Zealand in April May this year.
